BARBASCURA X is a chemist, science communicator, stand-up comedian, writer, author and TV host for Dmax, Rai, and Comedy Central, as well as a theatre performer, bestselling author with multiple reprints, songwriter, and Italian YouTuber originally from Taranto.
He is considered one of the most influential science communicators on the web, and the leading one in terms of followers.
He rose to fame online with his series “Scienza Brutta”, a collection of parody pseudo-documentaries that irreverently explore the lesser-known and most shocking aspects of the natural sciences. Blending science communication and comedy, he has brought science to theatres, the web, and television. For his unconventional approach, he has been dubbed the “punk” of science communication.
He is the winner of the 2023 Premio Satira Forte dei Marmi and the 2020 Premio Nazionale di Divulgazione Scientifica Giancarlo Dosi for his book published by Edizioni Tlon, “Il genio non esiste (e a volte è un idiota)”.
In 2024, together with MS Edizioni, he released his first board game, “Barbascura X – Evolversi Male.”
