Author and content creator, will be at Play 2026

Matteo Poropat, born in Trieste in 1974, lives and works as a software engineer in Turin. Over the years, he has published fanzines, gamebooks, fiction, essays, and role-playing game materials, collaborating in various capacities with numerous publishers including Delos, Acheron, Officina Meningi, Dagon Press, Raven Distribution, and Hypnos.

He edited the new edition of the magazine L’Eco di Arkham for the epic campaign Horror on the Orient Express by Stratelibri.

He is one of the editors, for Zona42, of the series dedicated to the works of Elvezio Sciallis.

He is the creator of LibroGameCreator, the leading software for interactive writing, developed in 2007 within the Librogame’s Land community, of which he is one of the administrators. Available in several languages, it is still used today by writers worldwide. In 2018, he adapted LGC into the story editor for the board game Tales of Evil by Escape Studios. He has also taught courses on LibroGameCreator for the publisher Tambù and held panels at Play – Festival del Gioco.

In collaboration with major cultural associations in Trieste, he coordinated the 2024 and 2025 editions of Ludoteca Galattica, an event dedicated to board games, role-playing games, and gamebooks, in partnership with the Science+Fiction Film Festival in Trieste.

In 2025, he published the sci-fi/horror gamebook Progenie Oscura with Plesio Editore, the culmination of a project that began in 2007.

He currently runs La Taverna al Coniglio Mannaro, a YouTube channel dedicated to role-playing games and retrogaming. He also creates fantasy maps for his own works and for others, and publishes game materials together with illustrator and writer Chiara Di Francia under the label 2MadRacoons.

At Play 2026, he will be present both as an author and as moderator of a masterclass with writer Andrea Tupac Mollica.
