Alessio Cavatore

Alessio Cavatore is the co-founder and CEO of River Horse Ltd, a company specialising in designing original board games that has led several successful crowdfunding campaigns.

After his studies in Biology at the University of Torino, Alessio's career took a different turn when he began working as a translator for Games Workshop in London. He later moved to game design, where he has now amassed over 25 years of experience.

He played a key role in developing game systems and expansions for iconic titles, including: Warhammer Fantasy Battle; Warhammer 40,000; The Lord of the Rings Strategy Battle Game.

In recent years, River Horse has also focused on games designed for a younger audience, such as: Labyrinth – a cooperative board game inspired by Jim Henson’s classic film; Tails of Equestria – a story-driven RPG set in the My Little Pony universe.

Recently, Alessio sold River Horse to Mantic Games and chose to focus on game system development as a consultant for various companies. His latest projects include: Bolt Action (for Warlord Games); Ghost in the Shell (for Mantic Games).
