Play Evolution

This year's theme, Evolution, embodies not only the transformation of Play – The Games Festival itself, but also a fundamental concept in modern science. The Science Hall, constantly evolving in its own right, will host numerous talks and events bringing together experts from research, game design, science communication, and education.
Three key goals guide the Hall’s programming: to explore the potential of games as tools for explaining scientific concepts and sparking reflection on complex topics such as climate change and artificial intelligence; to present scientific content that can offer fresh, innovative ideas for designing new games; to encourage the scientific study of games and promote dialogue between experts from a range of disciplines and fields.
Playing with Evolution at Play
Many of the games you'll find in the Play board game library, or at exhibitor booths and association areas, explore themes of evolution and tell stories of change and transformation.
In particular, we recommend checking out: 13 Foglie (Cranio Creations); Bios: Megafauna (ION Games); e-Mission (Ghenos Games); Darwin’s Journey (Ghenos Games); Evolversi Male (MS Edizioni); Evolution (Pendragon); Finspan (Ghenos Games); Greenland (ION Games); Hutan (Asmodee); Il Regno dei Funghi (Pendragon); Mindbug: Oltre l’Evoluzione (Pendragon); Sulle Orme di Darwin (Mancalamaro); The Fox Experiment (Giochi Uniti); Wingspan (Ghenos Games)
Come and discover how games can help us think, evolve… and have fun doing it!
