Benedello – Memoir '44

On 5 November 1944, from dawn to dusk, the area of Benedello in the Modena Apennines was engulfed in fierce fighting between German forces and partisans. Both sides threw everything they had into the battle: the Germans aimed to annihilate and scatter the partisan formations, while the partisans struggled to hold their ground and then break away. The cramped terrain quickly led to brutal, close-quarters combat with no holds barred.
