Cops & Robbers – An RPG Against Gambling Addiction

Cops & Robbers is probably the very first RPG many of us played as kids—now it becomes a full-fledged rulebook. In this game, players are certified crooks aiming to pull off the Big Heist in a series of high-stakes actions powered by a poker-based mechanic. The gang’s deck is played against the GM’s (aka the Croupier) in a risky game of strategy and bluffs.

The game, developed by Officina Meningi's own Valentino Sergi and Atropo Kelevra with Boardgames Academy and the contribution of a team of educators and psychologists, finds a balance between risk and revival with the intent of raising awareness on the topic of ludopathy in an engaging way. The game is freely available thanks to a project realised with the funding of the GAP Plan - ATS Val Padana within the project ‘GIOCHI DI COMUNITA’ (COMMUNITY GAMES).

The talk aims to present the genesis and goals of an initiative created with the intent of raising awareness in the community on the topic of gambling and ludopathy, promoting the value of healthy gaming as a tool for socialisation, aggregation and inclusiveness. The project was carried out with passion and dedication by Auser ‘Un Po di Giochi’ with the invaluable contribution of AUSER Dosolo/Pomponesco,Azienda Speciale Consortile Oglio Po, Consorzio Casalasco Servizi alla Persona and Fondazione ARCA Centro Mantovano.
