Editor at Mana Project Studio – Will Be at Play 2025!

Laura Fontanella is a translator, editor, writer, and transfeminist activist, as well as an editor at Mana Project Studio.

She is the founder of the Gender in Translation Lab, an initiative focused on intersectional translation, and has authored Il Corpo del Testo (Asterisco Edizioni, 2019) and Perdere il Filo. Esperienze collettive di traduzione transfemminista (Meltemi, 2024).

Her academic contributions include writing for Routledge in The Routledge Handbook of Translation, Feminism and Gender and contributing to Politiche della Bisessualità (ETS Edizioni, 2023), edited by A. Castro.

For Luiss University Press, she translated Transgender History: The Roots of a Revolution by Susan Stryker. For Mimesis, she translated Exposed: Environmental Politics and Pleasures in Posthuman Times by Stacy Alaimo.

She collaborates with Settenove Publishing, and has translated Consenso, possiamo parlarne? (Can We Talk About Consent?) by Justin Hancock and Una Damigella Non in Pericolo (A Damsel Not in Distress!) by Bethan Stevens - Inge Feltrinelli Award 2024 nominee.

Within the tabletop gaming world, Laura Fontanella has translated for several major publishers, including Mana Project Studio, Grumpy Bear, and Need Games.

Her most notable RPG translations include Wanderhome2023 RPG of the Year, Wildsea2024 RPG of the Year, Hunter, Eat the Reich, Orc Borg, Let’s Summon Demons, and Be Like a Cat.

In 2025, together with Marta Palvarini, Laura Fontanella co-developed and wrote the role-playing game Elder Mythos.
